Der EFSI hat seit seiner Auflegung Hunderte von Projekten ermöglicht, die alle dazu beitragen, Europa sozialer, grüner, innovativer oder wettbewerbsfähiger zu machen. Die folgenden Beispiele sind eine kleine Auswahl.

Der EFSI-Lenkungsrat steuerte zwischen 2015 und 2020 die Umsetzung des EFSI und sorgte dafür, dass die Garantie ordnungsgemäß eingesetzt wurde. Er legte die strategische Ausrichtung des EFSI fest. Dazu gehörten das Risikoprofil, die operativen Strategien und Verfahren, die für die Arbeit des EFSI erforderlich waren, sowie die Regeln für Geschäfte mit Investitionsplattformen und nationalen Förderbanken oder -instituten. Der Lenkungsrat hatte fünf Mitglieder: Drei Mitglieder wurden von der Europäischen Kommission ernannt, ein Mitglied von der EIB und ein Sachverständiger als Mitglied ohne Stimmrecht vom Europäischen Parlament.

Der EFSI-Investitionsausschuss genehmigte die Verwendung der EU-Garantie für Finanzierungen der EIB, mit denen strategische Investitionen in „Infrastruktur und Innovation“ gefördert wurden. Zwischen 2016 und 2020 mussten die Vorhaben die Investitionsgrundsätze des EFSI und die Anforderungen der EU-Verordnung Nr. 2017/2396 erfüllen.
Der Investitionsausschuss bestand aus dem geschäftsführenden Direktor, seiner Stellvertreterin und acht unabhängigen Sachverständigen, die vom Lenkungsrat ernannt wurden.

Investment Committee decisions approving the use of the EU guarantee for EIB operations, including the rationales of the Investment Committee for these decisions, are publicly available. Projects for which the EIB and the client agreed on confidentiality until contract signature are listed in reports published once the projects were signed.
