  • The European Investment Bank, with the support of the European Securitisation Forum, will hold in Warsaw on 10 May 2007  a conference looking at the banking sector in Poland. The event addresses national and international financial services industries, regulators and practitioners to provide an update on the regulatory and practical issues surrounding THE SECURITISATION MARKET IN POLAND. The event will bring together a select group of experienced professionals from the financial arena, the EIB and the national authorities to address market constraints, the legal frameworks, key implementation issues for securitisation transactions and outline proven solutions in practical case studies. 

     

    Background:

    Since 1990 the European Investment Bank, as the financing institution of the European Union, has been providing long-term funding in Poland supporting investment to facilitate EU integration across all sectors in close cooperation with the local banking sector. Economic and financial reforms in recent years have fostered an improved business climate and together with EU entry, this has led to increasing levels of investment activity in the past years.

     

    Against this backdrop, the banking sector has become more and more competitive and financial products have become increasingly sophisticated to fit the market’s needs and meet the client’s demand.

     

    The EIB event on 10 May aims to demonstrate how EIB can contribute to securitization transactions, with a particular focus on transactions benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises. EIB has been participating in this type of transactions for many years in “old” Member States of the European Union, and last year it successfully completed the first such transaction in New Member States. The pioneering transaction included a securitisation of EUR 164m of lease receivables originated by Raiffeisen Leasing Polska, of which EIB purchased EUR 50m.

    Confirmed speakers include: Mieczyslaw Groszek, Chairman for the Polish Association of Leasing Companies; Marco Angheben, Associate Director, European Securitisation Forum as well as expert speakers from Raiffeisen International, BBVA Spain, Lovells Polska and Fitch Ratings.
