President Nadia Calviño is the head of the European Investment Bank Group.
President Calviño was appointed on 21 December 2023 for a six-year mandate starting on 1 January 2024 by the EIB Board of Governors, composed of the economy and finance ministers designated by the Member States.
The President chairs the Management Committee of the EIB and staff of the Bank are under her authority. The Management Committee also includes 8 Vice-Presidents, appointed by the Bank’s Governors. Vice-Presidents have oversight for specific areas and policies of the EIB Group. Under the authority of the President and the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Management Committee oversees the day-to-day running of the EIB, prepares decisions for Directors and ensures that these are implemented.
The President also chairs the Board of the European Investment Bank, comprising the Directors representing the 27 shareholders and independent experts. Additionally, she currently chairs the Board of the risk finance subsidiary of the EIB Group: the European Investment Fund (EIF).
She represents the European Investment Bank at the ECOFIN Council of Ministers and leads relations with European and international institutions and fora.
At its meeting in June 2024, the Board of Governors endorsed the President’s strategic vision for the EIB Group to enhance its contribution to European policies focusing on eight core policy priorities:
