The unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 pandemic means that all aspects of EIB financed operations may be impacted by it, including those relating to environmental and social matters. As the Bank is developing its response to the pandemic, it is of vital importance that its environmental and social objectives continue being met in line with the EIB Environmental and Social Standards.

To that end and to address the complex challenges that our promoters are facing on the ground, the Bank’s Environment, Climate and Social Office (ECSO) has developed practical guidance to support EIB promoters in addressing the crisis impacts. A general Guidance Note to promoters highlights key issues related to the environmental and social performance in EIB financed operations both inside and outside the EU in context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This note is to be read in conjunction with accompanying guidance on specific topics, including:
