About

(description)

Luxembourg is a longstanding EIB donor partner. The country joined the EIB donor community in 2004, when it made a contribution to the FEMIP Trust Fund (FTF). Luxembourg also provides financial support to the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU-AITF) and the Economic Resilience Initiative Fund (ERIF). Luxembourg and the EIB together launched the Luxembourg-EIB Climate Finance Platform (LCFP), a joint initiative aimed at financing high-impact climate action projects in developing regions. Luxembourg also initiated the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF), a trust fund that seeks to enhance microfinance lending in developing countries. The country is also one of the initial contributors to several funds: the City Climate Finance Gap Fund (Gap Fund), the EU for Ukraine Fund (EU4U) and the ACP Trust Fund, which promotes growth and prosperity in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

Why partner with us

Donor partnerships provide an effective vehicle for donors looking to deliver sustained impact in developing countries. They enable donors to work with the EIB to unlock projects with high socio-economic returns, reaching out to people and places with additional support for targeted development outcomes. EIB activities outside the EU account for around one third of EU development aid. All contributions to EIB donor funds are considered Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligible.
