CAMENA is a climate action envelope within the FEMIP Trust Fund (FTF) created with the support of the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) to fight climate change in the Mediterranean region. CAMENA does this by providing financial grants to regional partners for specific climate initiatives. Operations financed by CAMENA typically identify or prepare climate action projects, facilitate fund actions that act as a catalyst for climate investment or provide finance for risk capital operations.
CAMENA operations are financed by the United Kingdom, the sole contributor to the CAMENA envelope.
Improved sanitation services for 1.6 million people
1,000 new jobs created or sustained
Donor-financed operations make a direct contribution to several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are some of the global goals targeted by our trust funds. Our collective actions unlock billions of euros in investment to combat climate change, eradicate poverty and fight inequality.
The EIB uses donor funds to enhance the development impact of investment projects. CAMENA provides project technical assistance and risk capital.
Countries eligible for funding: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine* and Tunisia.
Cross-border or regional projects are also welcome.
