On 17 May 2018, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg at a ceremony organised by the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg Committee to close Luxembourg Diversity Day.

On signing the Charter at the Diversity Day closing ceremony, EIB Secretary General Marjut Santoni said: “We aim to place diversity and inclusion at the very heart of our institution. We see these principles as vital to our relationship with our employees and as value drivers for our performance. The EIB has made major progress in this domain over the last ten years and we have set ourselves ambitious goals in our 2018-2021 Strategy for Diversity and Inclusion. We are completely in line with the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg and I am honoured to be signing it on the EIB's behalf.”

The aim of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg is to encourage Luxembourg-based companies to respect and promote diversity with concrete actions going beyond legal and regulatory non-discrimination requirements. By signing the Charter, signatories undertake in particular to inform, train and engage decision-makers and employees regarding issues related to diversity as a source of social enrichment and cohesion, to draw up and ensure the practical implementation of a diversity policy, and to assess and communicate the impacts of this policy on a regular basis.

The EIB is the first signatory among the European Institutions based in Luxembourg, thus highlighting our local anchoring. The Charter is an additional tool for the EIB to communicate about our diversity and inclusion actions, in line with our 2018-2021 Strategy for Diversity and Inclusion.

The Diversity Charter is an initiative of the public and private sector companies, associations and administrative bodies making up the IMS (Inspiring More Sustainability) Luxembourg grouping. The EIB has been a member since 2008. IMS Luxembourg is the leading network of Luxembourg businesses active in corporate social responsibility.

Established nationally, the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg receives particular support from employer organisations including the Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises (UEL), company networks such as the American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (AMCHAM), and from the European Commission, the Ministry of Family and Integration and the Ministry for Equal Opportunities, and the Centre for Equal Treatment (CET).

Created in 2012, the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg now has 176 signatories representing 15% of workers in Luxembourg. More information on the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg and its new members.
