The EIB signed a loan of 100 million USD with the Jordanian government to finance the construction of a water pipeline which will bring 100 million m3 of water a year from Disi (in the south of the country) to Amman.

This project will help address water scarcity in Jordan.

The loan was signed on 17th May 2009 by EIB Vice-President Philippe de Fontaine Vive in the presence of King Abdallah II.
