  • Following recent parliamentary elections in Poland, Mr Paweł Szałamacha was appointed Minister of Finance. He also becomes EIB Governor, succeeding Mr Szczurek.

    Mr Szałamacha was born on 24 January 1969. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium). He completed his legal training at OIRP in Poznan and, after several years of practice in the international law firm, he suspended in 2004 and then ended his career as a legal counsel. He finished one-year public management studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, receiving the degree of Master in Public Administration (Mid-Career MPA).

    From 2005 to 2007, he served as Deputy Minister of Treasury in the Government of the Law and Justice party.

    He is the Co-founder of the Sobieski Institute and was its Chairman from 2008 to 2011.

    He was also Member of Parliament of the Seventh Term, representing the Piła constituency, and a member of the Treasury and Public Finance parliamentary committee.

    In 2010, Paweł Szałamacha joined the National Development Council at the invitation of the President of Poland, Lech Kaczynski.
