Mr Franc Križanič has been appointed Minister of Finance as of 21 November 2008 and thus also serves as EIB Governor for the Republic of Slovenia, succeeding Mr Andrej Bajuk.

Mr Franc Križanič was born on 4 December 1954 and graduated from the Law Faculty in Ljubljana in 1978. In 1987, he completed his master's studies at the Economic Faculty in Zagreb and earned a PhD in Economics in 1997. Since 2000, he has been Junior Professor in Economics at Ljubljana University.

Between 2001 and 2008, he headed the Economics Institute of the Law School in Lubljana. Since 2006, he has also been a member of the Prime Minister's Strategic council for economic development. In September 2008, he was elected Member of Parliament in Ljubljana and appointed Minister of Finance two months later.
