The French Republic nominated Ms Claire Waysand ("European Affairs" Assistant Director: coordination of the offices with responsibility for European affairs, Directorate-General of the Treasury and Economic Policy) for appointment as Alternate Member of the EIB's Board of Directors by letter dated 23 November 2004.

On 3 December 2004 the Governors of the EIB were invited, by written procedure, to vote on this proposed appointment.

The decision to appoint Ms Claire Waysand was taken on 27 December 2004, the date on which the required majority of Governors' votes had been received by the Bank.

Ms Claire Waysand has been appointed for a period of four years, ending in 2008 following the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors during which the annual report, balance sheet and profit and loss account for the 2007 financial year will be examined.

The minute of this decision will be drawn up shortly and submitted to the Chairman of the Board of Governors for signature.
