  • Article
  • Green Procurement is the process by which institutions seek to reduce the environmental impacts of the goods, services and works they buy. The EIB practice demonstrates that significant measures are already taken to ensure environmental issues are taken into account when procuring for its own account.

To formalise its commitment, the Bank publishes the EIB Green Procurement: Guidelines and Objectives. At this stage, only environmental issues for the procurement of goods and services in Luxembourg headquarters are considered. In the framework of the development of its Corporate Responsibility Policy, the Bank adopted a step by step approach. The EIB Green Procurement Guidelines and Objectives will be progressively extended to socially responsible criteria and to works and external offices in a view to put in place an EIB Responsible Procurement Policy.
